Around here, we’re all about self-care (and candle care). While our candles are beautiful and calming, they’re also an open flame - so please treat them with the respect and presence they deserve.

To get the best burn, follow our guide and precautions:

  • Before each and every burn, it’s imperative that you trim your wick to approximately 6mm. Use the wick trimmer in our candle care kit to trim your wick instead of poking your candle with scissors. Make sure you dispose of the wick trimmings - don’t allow them to stay on the wax surface.

  • Remove any candle dressings, including large tumbled crystals, dried flowers etc.
  • Ensure that you place your luxe candle on a flat, fire safe surface and away from any hazards before burning.

  • On every burn, but especially on the first, ensure the wax pool (molten wax) reaches the glassware. This correctly sets the memory of your candle. Proper candle burning lessens the risk of tunnelling (a thick layer of unmelted wax around the glassware), allowing a longer candle life to be achieved.
  • There’s two ways to extinguish your candle using your candle care kit. The first is by using the wick dipper. With the hook end, simply dip the wick into the wax then bring it back up, straightening and centring it again. The second way to extinguish your candle is by using your snuffer. Simply lower the cup end over the candle flame, close enough to the wax so that it is starved of oxygen.

  • Allow your candle to solidify before trimming the wick and enjoying it again.

  • Only burn your WIKAN candle for a maximum of 3 hours at a time.

  • Avoid drafts.

  • Keep burning candles away from children and pets and any flammable objects.

  • Always burn your WIKAN candle on a flat, fireproof and heat resistant surface and within sight.

  • As always, discontinue the use of your WIKAN candle when only 2cm of wax remains.
